Workplaces is a B2C marketplace MVP for flexible workspace bookings — connecting mobile workers with offices, coworking spaces, meeting rooms, and drop-in spots.

Lead Designer

Context

Workplaces was a 2017 MVP for a two-sided B2C marketplace covering flexible workspace bookings across seven categories — Office Space, Project Space, Co-Working, Lounge, Virtual Office, Conference Room, and Meeting Room. As Lead Designer I owned the work end-to-end: research, IA, wireframes, hi-fi consumer screens, operator admin, mobile, and transactional emails.

Research into structure

Workplaces — affinity research wall mapping two user types across three pillars

Affinity wall

Two user types — consumers and operators — synthesized across three pillars, with free vs. paid Manager tiers stress-tested so supply wasn't gated on day one.

Workplaces — sitemap with General, Manager-Setup, and Manager-Admin flows

Sitemap

Three parallel flows: General for consumers, Manager-Setup for operator onboarding, Manager-Admin for daily inventory work. Each kept the marketplace and the back office cleanly separated.

Wireframes into search

Workplaces — Balsamiq-style wireframes of core screens

Low-fi first

Balsamiq-style wireframes locked layout, hierarchy, and flow with stakeholders before any visual treatment — so hi-fi was a styling pass, not a re-architecture.

Workplaces — search results paired with a Manhattan map browse view

Search + map

The consumer entry point: filter-driven list paired with a Manhattan map. Standard marketplace browse pattern, tuned for workspace inventory and category-heavy search.

Both sides of the marketplace

Workplaces — Bond Collective listing detail with Request to Book, Tour, and Prices CTAs

Listing detail

Photography, amenities, and pricing with three pinned CTAs: Request to Book, Tour, Prices. Each captures a different consumer intent and routes to a different operator response.

Workplaces — Lead Generation admin with pricing tiles

Operator admin

A Lead Generation surface where every space type sits in its own pricing tile. Doubles as inventory management and as the inbox for incoming requests from the consumer side.

Mobile and system touchpoints

Workplaces — mobile triptych showing hero, listing detail, and reservation confirmation

Responsive

Hero, listing detail, and reservation confirmation on mobile — tuned per breakpoint rather than auto-stacked, so touch targets and image ratios held up under thumb.

Workplaces — transactional email mockups

Emails

Confirmations, lead notifications, and account updates designed alongside the UI — same wordmark, same voice — so the marketplace stayed coherent beyond the app surface.
